Codex – Radiohead Lyrics

Slight of hand.

Jump off the end,

into a clear lake,

no one around.

Just dragonflies fantasized.

No one gets hurt.

Done nothing wrong.

Slide your hand.

Jump off the end.

The water’s clear

and innocent.

The water’s clear

and innocent.

  1. maybe fly into his eyes?
great work on the lyrics though.
wait, i don’t really hear “fly into his eyes” anymore… flyin to sides? that is silly, no?
    i wonder

    • I think it is competing with little by little for me, but I agree, it is quite amazing…very ethereal like Pyramid Song…Also, you’re welcome. Any thoughts on this missing lyrics, let me know!

  2. Downloaded “King of Limbs” this morning and while “Codex” was playing I received a call telling me my father had died. The two are now connected forever. A search for the lyrics brought me here and after reading them, they seem strangely appropriate.

    Thanks for posting.

  3. There are a thousand ways that this song could be looked at. It’s like an abstract painting of someone jumping off of a rock into a serene lake, a very summery, peaceful scene. This song paints a beautiful picture in the mind.

  5. Cheers for the lyrics.
I think a better chord progression goes something like:

    Intro
    C Bb Dm x2
    Dm
    C Bb Dm x2
    Dm

    Verse x2
    C Bb Dm
    Slight of hand
    F Gm7 Bb
    Jump off the edge
    Bb Am C
    Into a clear lake
    C Bb Dm
    No one around

    C Bb Dm x2
    Dm

    Verse

    End
    Dm
    Strings:
    Gadd#4 C
    Bb Am C
    Dm
    C Bb Dm

  6. Dont know if you guys noticed, but since I’m using some studio headphones, I can hear at the end there is backwards recorded speaking at the end of Codex and beginning of Give up the Ghost when its making that whirley sound. Someone definitely needs to play this backwards lol..

  7. no, its about dying but not psychically. The waters clear and innocent, its going to wash away the heavy burden of self of the narrrator. He’s weary of life

alot of radiohead songs sure sound like suicide in some way, i think they are voicing the agony of a dying society
